SUMMARY:Wall Workshop\, Lombardy
DESCRIPTION:Our Host\n\n\n\nIn early 2020\, Sabina Barrett and Byron Carroll purchased the McKinney House property\, unaware of its historical significance or long-standing reputation as a local landmark. Byron is an Ironworker and Welder with experience in masonry and carpentry\, while Sabina has a background in architecture and works as a Conservation Technologist and Heritage Planner. The mid-19th-century stone house was built by blacksmith William McKinney along the former stagecoach route between Bytown and Kingston\, establishing the property as an early hub of rural industry and travel. One of its defining features was the stone wall at the front of the property\, later moved during the 1950s highway expansion and now significantly deteriorated. They are committed to restoring the property with care\, beginning with rebuilding the stone wall as close to its original location as possible\, preserving a character-defining feature that has framed the landmark for over 165 years. \n\n\n\nSchedule and Preparation\n\n\n\n\n\nTimes\n\n\n\nSaturday9:00: Overview and site work begins12:00 Lunch13:00 Review and continue work16:00 End of day one \n\n\n\nSunday9:00: Review work and continue12:00 Lunch13:00 Review and continue16:00 Final photo and workshop close \n\n\n\n*Lunch and snacks are included \n\n\n\n\n\nRequired Equipment\n\n\n\n\nSafety glasses\n\n\n\nSafety boots (if you have them)\n\n\n\nGloves (don’t bring expensive gloves they get shredded just as quickly as the cheap ones)\n\n\n\nAppropriate clothing – We work in all weather conditions\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister now\n\n\n\nVolunteer
