SUMMARY:Canadian Stone Carving Festival\, Montreal
DESCRIPTION:2026 Edition\n\n\n\nLocation: Place Royale\, Montreal \n\n\n\nDate: July 17-18-19\, 2026 \n\n\n\nTheme: Greece and Its Heroes in the Age of Troy. Stone as a testament to the art and architecture of ancient Greece \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the festival\n\n\n\nIn 2010\, the first edition of the Canadian Stone Carving Festival was launched in Winchester\, Ontario\, by Danny Barber. The intention was to bring together sculptors and stone carvers from the Ottawa region to enjoy a weekend of creative expression and camaraderie. \n\n\n\nSince then\, it has become a one-of-a-kind event\, a gathering place for artisans/artists and the public. In 2023\, the festival took flight and landed in Montreal\, where it is held every summer. \n\n\n\nThis three-day festival is a unique opportunity to interact with professional sculptors\, artisans\, and enthusiasts who transform blocks of limestone into unique works of art using traditional methods. See the tools. Ask questions about the techniques. Experience the art and craftsmanship that went into building the heritage buildings around you. \n\n\n\nOn July 17\, 18\, and 19\, 2026\, stone carvers from Canada and abroad will gather at Montreal’s famous Place Royale (Quebec City) to showcase their craftsmanship and creativity. Using only hand tools\, participants will have 18 hours over three days to complete their works. \n\n\n\nThe Canadian Stone Carving Festival is not a competition and is open to carvers of all experience levels\, from beginners to professionals. This event was created to promote camaraderie among carvers\, raise public awareness of the craft\, and raise funds for charity.
