June 6-7: Retaining Wall Restoration Workshop, Bishop’s House, St. Raphael’s, Ontario

We invite you to take part in a project where Dry Stone Canada will be working with the Glengarry Fencibles Trust to restore the retaining wall built in the Bishop’s college garden in 1826.

This workshop will take place in South Glengarry Township (an hour from Ottawa and Montreal). You will find heritage information at the Bishop’s House website and visitor information at The Great Waterway website.

The focus of this workshop will be on the application of dry stone walling principles for the preservation of historic stone walls. This student course will be an excellent  introduction to the basics of walling for persons of all ages and abilities and for experienced wallers looking to hone their retaining wall skills. The conservation work will be respecting the historic character of this landscape as identified by Parks Canada and will adhere to their “standards and guidelines.”
