The competition will happen at the Amherst Island Lodge. Previously owned and run by long-time walling supporter Molly Stroyman, the lodge now has lovely new owners Graham and Tagget. A wall that we previously built at another festival will be the wall used for the competition, moving it slightly back to accommodate better parking for the new owners.
We welcome all levels of walling. This is a fun way to practice speed and not overthinking!!!! We are following in the tradition of many a dry stone wall competition around the world and excited to start our own legacy. Each participant will be given a small section of wall to take down and rebuild in a specific amount of time. Come try your hand at it! There will be prizes for everyone, including first prize of $500, second prize $250 and third prize $100 along with all kinds of goodies. Among our walling judges will be Neil Rippingdale from the Kentucky Dry Stone Conservancy.
